It was a joy to learn Friday night that the Illinois Republican Party won't be meeting in suburban Tinley Park to try to dump their party chairman because he's not appropriately opposed to the concept of gay marriage to satisfy the party ideologues.
The political partisan in me doesn't mind if the GOPers converge and make fools of themselves. It is, after all, a free country!
BUT THE PRACTICAL side of me just doesn't see the point of having to endure the ridiculous rhetoric that would have spewed from such a session -- which was cancelled.
Better to have nothing done, and know that it will result in the right thing being done for now. Although I don't doubt that the ideologically-inclined will be more than willing to try their rhetorical nonsense again at a later date.
