Illinois town could be a sign of the future

Waukegan, our neighbor to the north near the Illinois/Wisconsin border, dumped its mayor in elections held this week, and activists for immigration issues say they think it is because of that official's policies allowing the police to crack down on people they considered to be too foreign to belong.

People wishing to learn more about this situation should read our sister weblog, the South Chicagoan (http://southchicagoan.blogspot.com/).

THAT SITUATION IS better than the elections in nearby Mettawa, where it appears the two candidates for village president are tied -- and the election could be decided by a coin flip, unless more ballots (http://www.suburbanchicagonews.com/newssun/news/1518981,5_1_WA09_METTAWA_S1.article) mysteriously turn up in the next couple of weeks.
